Honoring Nature with Action: The K.G.P. Foundation’s Van Mahotsav Tree Plantation Drive
Marking the spirit of World Environment Day, the K.G.P. Foundation led a focused green campaign through its Van Mahotsav initiative, championed by President Srigandh Ganesh Shet. This meaningful drive took place at two locations — SJMV Mahanta First Grade Arts and Commerce College in Manth and Rayapur Nandi Badavane — where trees were planted with the dual messages of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and “Women for Trees.” The campaign emphasized environmental responsibility, emotional connection, and collective participation, reinforcing the foundation’s belief that consistent action creates lasting change.
What happened during the Van Mahotsav campaign?
The first phase of the drive at SJMV College, Manth, saw active participation from respected academic leaders including Principal Dr. M. Rajashekarappa, NSS Officer Dr. Tejashwini Aralikatti, HOD of Sociology Smt. G.C. Kaddipudi, and IQAC Coordinator Smt. C.K. Hubli. The second plantation took place in Rayapur Nandi Badavane, where residents and senior citizens including Mallikarjuna Horakeri, Basavaraja Kittur, Giri Gowda, Raju Patil, and Basavaraj Atmanand Madiwalar, contributed to the cause alongside city staff and volunteers. The event was carried out smoothly, with careful planning to ensure the trees were planted where they could thrive and benefit the local ecosystem.
Built on community spirit and environmental consciousness
This green initiative wasn’t just symbolic. It was a thoughtful attempt to embed environmental care into the heart of the community. By encouraging individuals to dedicate trees to their mothers and champion women’s role in environmental stewardship, the foundation created a personal layer to the campaign. Participants of all ages were reminded that taking care of nature is not limited to one day, it’s a habit that must grow over time, just like the trees they planted.
A growing vision for a greener tomorrow
Through Van Mahotsav, the K.G.P. Foundation reinforced its ongoing commitment to sustainable development and civic participation. The drive also highlighted the importance of collaboration between institutions, citizens, and leaders. As environmental challenges continue to evolve, campaigns like these act as small but steady solutions rooted in action, awareness, and community effort. One tree at a time, the foundation continues to shape a cleaner, more conscious tomorrow.
